Mauna Kea Summit

One of the best places to see the sunset and stargazing and it's also the highest mountain on earth. Comfortable 4X4 passenger van as transportation.Jackets and gloves provided to keep you warm. Experienced tour guide to talk about our history and show you our amazing night with a laser pointer. Get close to the stars with our professional Celestron telescope and get a nice photo with our DSLR camera.

They cancelled it at the last moment. There were other tours on the same day. But I could not book it since it was too late. Finally ended up extending the stay.

Such a fun, unique experience. Mitch made it even more memorable. I did the pickup from Hilo and we got a mini tour of Hilo before heading out to Mauna Kea. The view from the summit was incredible as you float above the clouds. We received a beautiful sunset then headed back down towards the visitor center where it was a little less windy and did some stargazing. It was cool to look through the telescope and get a photo taken in front of the stars. The floral parkas they provide were much needed and make for a fun pic. Even though you could make this drive on your own it was made so much better having Mitch as our guide. Highly recommend.

This is a once in a life-time opportunity. Worth the time and the expense. It is cold! Dress warm and then throw in something warmer (and we are used to cold weather being from Michigan). The views and the learning opportunities are well worth it! The company gives you multiple stops on the climb to the top to get out and spend several minutes adjusting to the altitude, so that your group can all be successful getting to and staying at the top.
