Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

Even though our canoe ride got cancelled, our tour guide Abbey and her team still took us up to the lake and in the canoe for pictures! Her and the team were so nice and friendly. Bonus for us, we met some great people on the ride up to the lake. If you are in town and they are in season, I definitely recommend taking this tour.

Thank you for understanding it was for everyones safety as it was much too windy to paddle on the Mendenhall Lake that day. You all were so much fun. Come back and visit us anytime!

My husband, daughter, daughter-in-law and I found this tour after the glacier one that Princess offered was filled. So glad we did! We were picked up from the ship and taken to the lake. I was a bit apprehensive about padding for such a long time on the lake to get to the glacier but it really wasn't bad at all! Abby and Casey were our guides and they were awesome! We had a full canoe and it was a beautiful day to paddle and to be on the glacier. So cool to see the glacier so close and to walk on it as well. Everything that we needed was provided for us - rain jackets, life jackets, "Alaskan tennis shoes" (rubber boots!), crampons and walking poles. Some nice snacks and water were also provided. Great excursion - we were well taken care of!

This was the best excursion that we booked... yes it was hard work at times but it was so rewarding. We got so close to the glacier and the waterfalls, truly amazing. Our guides Ryan and Grant were the best and made the adventure so enjoyable. If you do one thing in Juneau, do this!... and do it with this company! Oh and the hot apple cider at the end was lush!
