Mendenhall Lake Canoe Adventure

Overview
Paddle across Mendenhall Lake, navigating past icebergs, surrounded by Alaskan wildlife on an exceptionally stable, 28-foot, traditional Tlingit-style canoe, with all modern safety gear supplied. Venture within a safe distance of the awe-inspiring face of the Mendenhall Glacier and the beautiful Nugget Falls where you will hit the beach and refuel for the return paddle with an Alaskan-style snack. Due to the close approach to the glacier face, the Forest Service tightly controls the number of participants. Be one of the lucky few to experience this one-of-a-kind adventure!

Had an amazing time spending a few hours seeing Lake Mendenhall. We spend about 2 hour on the lake and we’re able to see the sun go done in the 4:00 p.m. trip. It was a bit chilly so I recommend bringing gloves and a jacket as the wind picks up in later excursion. Jonah, our guide shared some great information and was very knowledgeable about the lake. I also adored our bus driver, unfortunately I didn’t get him name but (Blake, Puerto Rican from Texas??) but he was hilarious and so much fun! He definitely made all of us laugh and was a great entertainer playing trivia on the bus! He was great and deserves employee of the month!

Seeing the Glaciers up-close. Canoe is the only way to get this close to Glaciers. The tour guide Blake and supporting staff at the shores are phenomenal. They brought expert knowledge to the tour along with great sense of humor. A young and energetic nature lover from South of Seattle - he really loves this job. So was the bus driver - David from Texas. Both these employees could probably do any other jobs interfacing people- but they make this tour worthwhile. One last point - the crabmeat spread concocted by the founder of the company is superb addition to the tour. They should market it outside. We would highly recommend it.

We enjoyed the experience despite the rain! Fortunately we were provided with great rain pants, jackets and boots. Our guide John was great! He shared his wealth of knowledge and love of Alaska with us.
