As one of the only places in the world to whale watch year-round, Monterey Bay is abundant with a huge diversity of sea life, and is at the top of many things to do in Monterey. As a protected marine sanctuary rich with nutrients, the Monterey Bay Submarine Canyon thrives with a bounty of breathtaking wildlife including Humpback Whales, Killer Whales, Gray Whales, Blue Whales, Sperm Whales, Risso Dolphins, Long Beaked Common Dolphin, Bottlenose Dolphin, Dall’s Porpoise, Mola Mola aka Ocean Sunfish, Jellyfish, Sea Turtles, Sea Lions, Pelicans, Sea Otters and so much more!

Spent a week in the San Jose area. We planned for at least one whale cruise and ended up taking two (luckily) on the Atlantis Monterey. The first was successful but the weather was very foggy so it was, at times, hard to make out the whales. Weather was superb on the second one and we got to see a gray whale, Risso's dolphins and had a FANTASTIC close-up encounter with some friendly and curious humpbacks that played around the stern of the boat for quite awhile! Crew was excellent (as always) and really recommend the upper deck option. Thanks for a great experience!!

Morning tour was about 3 hours long and really delivered! We saw several whales, dolphins and seals during our excursion and were able to capture a few on camera. Great guide kept the tour interesting by providing info about the marine life and history of Monterey Bay when there wasn't something specific to see. Would definitely recommend to other visitors.

It was a calm day at sea, but there were some small swells. The big Princess boar handled the rocking better than the smaller boats used by others. We still had outstanding views of whales, sea lions and sun fish. Would highly recommended a tour and doing it with Princess.
