What To Expect

Monterey Bay

As one of the only places in the world to whale watch year-round, Monterey Bay is abundant with a huge diversity of sea life, and is at the top of many things to do in Monterey. As a protected marine sanctuary rich with nutrients, the Monterey Bay Submarine Canyon thrives with a bounty of breathtaking wildlife including Humpback Whales, Killer Whales, Gray Whales, Blue Whales, Sperm Whales, Risso Dolphins, Long Beaked Common Dolphin, Bottlenose Dolphin, Dall’s Porpoise, Mola Mola aka Ocean Sunfish, Jellyfish, Sea Turtles, Sea Lions, Pelicans, Sea Otters and so much more! Board the 2 largest boats in the Monterey fleet the 110ft. Princess Monterey and the 100ft Atlantis Monterey. Limited VIP upper deck seating optional upgrade for an additional charge of $20 per person at time of check in if space is available.

you may want to take a sweater or light jacket with you because it does tend to get a little cold even when it’s sunny out.

This was my first whale watching tour and it was the highlight of my trip to Monterey! We saw humpback whales jumping out of the water, hundreds of dolphins, and even an albatross! It was an incredible trip! The weather was nice even if the water was bumpy, the narration was entertaining and informative, and every interaction I had with staff was polite and helpful every step of the way. Thank you Captain Brian, Naturalist Kristen, and the crew Mason, Gerard, and Gabe who made the trip enjoyable and safe! Also, Omar Jr. in the shop, who was incredibly polite and accommodating. I wasn't sure what to expect for whale watching in February, but I never imagined it would be this amazing! I would highly recommend this company and their staff to anyone looking for a great whale watching experience. And thank you Kristen for listing everyone's names at the end of the trip so I could include them in this review. All of you deserve this shout out for the great job you did!
