Historic estate. Lovely gardens among Washington’s home. People in period costumes talking from Washington’s era perspective. Mansion tour very informative and historic. Educational center includes a 4D revolutionary war movie and decision making simulation. A must see with many artifacts as well! Could easily spend 3-4 hours here. Beautiful view of the Potomac River from the mansion. Working farm and livestock as well.

We spent 4 hours touring the home, Washington's tomb, the dock and the museum. This is a fascinating place and well worth the cost of admission. The exterior of the house was being restored (the wood siding that was built to look like stone was being scraped to the bare wood and re-painted) and it was fascinating to see how the building was constructed. The 25-minute "4D" film on the Revolutionary War is well worth seeing - you actually feel the vibrations of exploding cannons and get "snowed" on during the winter.

Visiting the Mt. Vernon estate of President and our First FLOTUS, Martha Washington, was fascinating. The memorial for the enslaved souls buried at Mt. Vernon is a thoughtful marker. Interesting fact: 20+ family members are entombed in the vault behind the President and Lady Washington. The view of the Potomac is lovely.
