What To Expect
1
Holo Holo Charters
Tour Kauai’s Na Pali Coast aboard a High Speed Raft. The adventure begins when you leave from the shore of scenic Hanalei Bay and we shuttle you by dinghy to your rigid hull inflatable raft which is anchored just offshore. There, you’ll do a “dry-transfer”, stow your gear, grab a seat and get ready for the experience of a lifetime.
2
Hanalei Bay
Minutes after leaving the bay, the spectacular Na Pali Coast comes into view and you see why its dramatic cliffs and beaches have enchanted painters, authors and travelers for centuries… and we’re just getting started!
3
Na Pali Coast
As we travel down the coast, your crew and Captain entertain your imagination with stories of the Hawaiians who once made this coast their home. From sea-level you really get a feel for the tremendous scale of Na Pali. Keep an eye out for dolphins, turtles and seabirds which are often seen on our tours. Depending on the ocean conditions the day of your raft tour, we’ll stop and snorkel at one of several protected and shallow areas which will be teeming with tropical fish. Fins, goggles (with corrective lenses if you need them), snorkels, and flotation aids are all provided. If you’re new to snorkeling, our crew will be on-hand to provide instruction and pointers so you can get the most from your adventure. After you have a chance to snorkel and relax on the Na Pali Coast, we’ll serve a tasty sandwich lunch before we head back up the coast to Hanalei Bay. Expect to get wet and bring a lightweight jacket.

We went on the 7:30 AM excursion on June 23rd. Captain Dale and his mate Alakai'i were awesome guides. Considerate, funny, and knowledgeable. Being able to scoot into caves and under waterfalls was awesome, but unlike going on a zodiac, it was actually comfortable. The snacks, water, and sandwiches were yummy. There are better opportunities to snorkel in Kauai, but that has nothing to do with the tour. It was fun to jump into the water and swim around, and we did see a turtle which was awesome! Keep in mind that the surf and wind can make for a bumpy ride. Our kids thought it was fun--almost like a roller coaster!! Take your seasickness remedies beforehand if you get motion sickness! And, be okay getting wet. As the Captain said, there's the wet side of the boat . . . and the wetter side! Great fun! I'd do it again for sure.

We had two kids, a teen and my wife and I, leaving Hanalei bay on June 26. Checkin was ok. Had to sign the obligatory waivers. Might be more efficient if this was offered ahead of time, online possibly. They offered ponchos and reef safe sunscreen lotion. I did try some, but the smell of the sunscreen was not pleasant. Plus a little goes a long way as it’s super thick. Still, I’m all for reef safe lotion. They won’t let you bring spray sunscreen. The placard listed it as a hazard on the boat. Would suggest you get some reef safe lotion or spray before you board the boat. We took a van to the beach and boarded a smaller transfer vessel to our raft. We left our shoes on the beach and picked them back up on return. I did like the raft, it was large and roomy and had benches with back support. I saw many other Na Pali boat riders on those zodiacs just riding on the rail of the boat. No benches. I imagine their backs were screaming at the end of 4 hours. I was glad we booked on a larger boat that was still able to get into the sea caves. Captain Spencer and first mate Casey were awesome. Casey was full of knowledge about Hawaiian tradition and the Na Pali coast. Captain Spencer was very skillful and was able to maneuver us into some tight spaces while keeping us safe. We ran all the way down to Polihale and came back about half way to snorkel. Kids loved it and we saw bottle nose dolphins, turtles and even humuhumunukunukuapua’a. Lunch was good. Various sodas, water, ham, turkey, vegetarian and even GF sandwiches! Also various chips. The snorkel was old style; had to blow water back up through top. Still was adequate and saved me from bringing my own gear. They also provided dry bags, which was super nice to have. Stowed our towels and other dry clothes. Would recommend you take a surf shirt or a pull over. Sun is bright. Even Captain and first mate were wearing tops with full sleeves. The ride back was rough, but cap did the best he could to make it easier. The trade winds had picked up and made it choppy. Again thankful for being in a boat with a proper seat. If you’re staying on the North side of Kaua’i book this tour out of Hanalei. You reach Na Pali sooner and saves you time from driving around to Port Allen. I booked through hawaiidiscount.com. They took the print copy of the reservation. Not sure you had to bring it though. Definitely would recommend this company.

This tour was a standout! The ability to see the Na Pali Coast up close from the water, to explore caves, to see dolphins and see turtles.....all on a comfortable raft with an informative and helpful crew. We absolutely loved it.
