What To Expect
1
Aunt Sally's Pralines
Start your day on the sweetest of notes at a historic praline-makers shop to sample this Southern confectionary treat.
2
Garden District
During the late 19th century, as New Orleans started to fully enjoy its prosperity, wide-lot homes of opulent nature began to arise where once plantations sprawled. Wander through the streets, as harmless insects buzz about, ferns sway on porches and these southern belles lounge about.
3
Lafayette Cemetery No.1
Peek into one of America’s most historic graveyards - Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 with its famous family plots and gray stone mausoleums. Here your guide will share some intriguing stories on the practical difficulties of building and maintaining a cemetery below sea level. Please note: Access to the cemetery is currently prohibited to all guests. Full cemetery tour will be given from outside the gates.
4
Elms Mansion
As you return to the wide avenue of St. Charles, wander a bit more to end your tour in front of the Elms Mansion, one of the best-preserved old Southern mansions in America. As your time with your guide draws to a close, reflect on the beautiful, often troubled history of New Orleans and celebrate the preservation to keep this special corner of the world for all to enjoy. Please note: Access to the Elms Mansion may occasionally be unavailable. In this case, you will receive an extended Garden District tour.

Highlights include the Praline Factory tour, riding the streetcar, and seeing the Garden District. Seeing inside the Elms Mansion was a plus that only this tour offered. Low lights were that the tour guide gave false information concerning Nicholas Cage owning Marie Laveau's house in the French Quarter(He never did), and that Marie Laveau lived in the Marigny District when she actually lived on St. Ann Street in the French Quarter.

Hi James_N, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on our Garden District tour. We are delighted to hear that overall you enjoyed the content and activities during the tour; however, we are disappointed that your guide made a mixup with some of his information, affecting the experience that you had. We pride ourselves on being one of the few factually accurate tour companies in the city and will make sure this matter is appropriately addressed. Kind Regards, The Walks Team

I really liked the history Timothy talked about as we walked through the neighborhoods. Aunt Sally’s Praline Shop is great and a fun place to buy gifts for people back home. Be prepared to go with the flow as the tour moves at an irregular rate. It’s fun and relaxed; just don’t think everything will happen on a strict schedule.
