Old Town Key West Literary Walking Tour

Overview
Join us every weekend for the Old Town Literary Walking Tour, a stroll through downtown Key West, illuminating stories of writers that have called our island home. Inspired by David A. Kaufelt’s original literary walking tour, our new tour features the former homes and favorite haunts of writers, including Tennessee Williams, Shel Silverstein, Elizabeth Bishop, and Robert Frost, and highlights tales of our lesser-known local talent.

We met at the Library which was just around the corner from where we were staying at the Key West Bed & Breakfast on William. We both have been to the Key West Literary Festival in past years and were pretty sure this would be top notch and informative and it didn't disappoint. The docent was well informed and added lots of enthusiasm to her presentation. Also, she read lots of excerpts from germane publications that fit right in with the author she was talking about. The tour is about two hours. While you're on your feet the whole time, there really isn't a lot of walking. It was well worth the time and $$$'s. It's not for kids though.

I greatly enjoyed the literary walk with our guide Sarah. Her knowledge of Key West literary history was exceptional and she conveyed it with enthusiasm and joy. I must note, that I most enjoyed her readings from each author we encountered. This added element will always be remembered. Overall this literary tour is something that I believe everyone, from light reader to serious writer, will find well worth their time.

A wonderful walking tour of Key West, and its historical literary history, led by a terrific guide. She was knowledgeable, energetic, fun, and inclusive of all the folks on the tour. Her enthusiasm for Key West and the authors and artists who have resided there was contagious. The tour really enhanced my stay. I recommend it for people new to Key West, and those who have been coming for years, like me
