The aerial tramway alone is an adventure. The rotating car provides a 360 degree view no matter which window you stand at. Moving faster than expected, the ride in itself was an adventure.
Be sure to dress comfortably and in layers, the temperature at the top drops at least 10-20 degrees. Hiking or a casual walk among the trees and streams is incredibly peaceful and offers hundreds of photo opportunities regardless how long or far you walk. Wear comfortable shoes, the initial walk down the pathway is a little steep even with the switch backs. I used the lockers that are available to lock my purse and other items, which made the hiking a lot more comfortable.
Our tramcar operator on the way down played music that got everyone on board singing out loud. He was great and left us on such a high as we heading to our cars. As a California native who has been to Palm Springs more times than I can count, I can't believe I had never been here before. This is a ride I am going to make again and again.
During peak seasons, be sure to check the website and make an advance reservation, some holiday weekends, reservations are not accepted. They will take walk-ins the day of but you may have to wait for a later tram if they are full. Parking is exceptional with busses taking you to the entrance from the lower levels. Have a sun shade for your car on hand, the Palm Springs heat will keep it warm while you are out and don't leave anything in the car that you don't want to melt.
