When you visit Palm Springs, everyone says you MUST ride the tram and I see why. It's such a cool experience! The actual ride is quick (about 7 minutes) but so fun, and the views are beautiful. Once you get up to the mountain the temperature does drop pretty significantly. I went in early June (high 90s-102) and at first I though I didn't need my sweater, but once I left the indoors up there, I could definitely feel the cooler air. Didn't care much for the gift shops, and the Pines cafe was a bit pricey but okay food. Tip - take the shuttle from your parking lot up to the entrance. I didn't and boy, was I out of breath by the time I got to the entrance!

We visited Palm Springs in June, so the temps were up over 100. We took a late afternoon ride on the tram and had dinner at the restaurant on the top. The temp at the top was in the 70's - a nice relief. We took a little hike and went to the rstaurant for dinner. If you make a dinner reservation, your fare for the tram is cheaper. Wear shoes that you can do stairs, inclines, and trails in if you want to take full advantage. Another idea is to bring a picnic lunch or dinner - there are lots of picnic tables you can use. Also a little snack bar and a bar-bar.

We thoroughly enjoyed the ride up and down. Gil, our descent driver, made it memorable as we sang along to classic rock tunes. He took our pictures and really made it a most fun trip. The views are a must see. Don’t miss this one!
