The Tramway is subject to delays and periodic shutdowns due to unforeseen circumstances and is not responsible for ticket refunds or the inability to redeem a voucher
Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

Purchased tickets in advance. Short drive from Downtown Palm Springs. Plenty of Parking ($8). Steep walk to entrance from Parking Lot. Shuttles available. No wait to board Tram. Spectacular Ride, View (8500’), and Stunning Views at Top, and in Park. Gift Shop & Food Available at Top. Very frequent service up/down. A Must Trip, when in Palm Springs.

It was worth waiting in line but suggest you get the tickets in advance - not just the vouchers. Grab a sweatshirt or jacket and binoculars to appreciate the view. I would advise sneakers or hiking shoes - not sandals so you can have a bit of a hike.

The tram is comfortable and with the big windows, you get quite a view. I'm a little fearful of heights and was not bothered at all with this tram ride. Once at the top there's a restaurant (very good food and service) with big windows overlooking the mountain and the city. There are some easy hiking trails and a paved road to get closer to the trails. Watch the movies... and do find out the history and one man's vision for non-hikers and climbers to travel up this beautiful mountain for spectacular viewing.
