Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

Even if you are afraid of heights, this is a must see! The ride up doesn’t take very long and the flier rotates inside the tram to give everyone a good view! It’s a good 10-20 degrees difference in temperature between desert floor and mountain top so some may need a jacket. The hikes, once there, range from easy .75 miles to 1.5 miles. There is a trail head off to the wilderness as well. There are five view points that each have their own attributes of beautiful views. Some of the trail is rough but most easy enough for most people. The hardest hiking is back up the side walk to the lodge/tram station. There is food and drinks in the station. This is selfie central with all the great sights! Must see!!

Rode the tramway up the side of the mountain. Great views of the Coachella Valley. It is cold at the top, make sure to dress appropriately. There is a good restaurant at the top of the tramway.

Staff from the entrance, ticketing and those who operate the tram - they were the best! Organized, professional and systematic. It was my 1st time to ride the tram. Nerve wracking experienced. The staff were reassuring and funny too😂 at the same time. Awesome view. You can see the top of the mountains, windmills, San Andreas fault line and the city!!! This destination should be the number one on your list...
