The tram was packed but the hiking trails were empty There are a variety of trails to hike but virtually everyone stopped at the end of the tram The actual ride is interesting and the recorded information where one’s appetite

I had ridden the old tram 35 years ago so this updated version was quite a thrill! We went early and parked in the lot next to the visitor's center. (I highly recommend going early!) We purchased tickets on site and then they took our picture before we entered the tram. Once you get on decide if you want to be next to the glass or if you feel more comfortable in the middle by the tram operator. Do not hang your things on the bars because the floor under you will rotate and you may not end up in the same position to retrieve your belongings. The window was open when we rode the tram so you may get some fresh air on your ride. Also note that there are a few points where the tram "hops" as it reaches a given point on the poles. It was a bit unnerving for some of the riders. Some of the smaller children complained of their ears popping so gum might be a good idea if that is a concern. The elevation provided an incredible view and for those afraid of heights it may be a major accomplishment. I would suggest bringing layers. The temperature at the top of the tram was much cooler.

We visited the Tram Thursday 5/23 after a week at a conference. I was not wanting to do this moving floor tram but Gil the tram operator helped me relax by distracting me with singing and stories and instruction - he was such a ‘Gem’ and the ride up, truly allowed me to enjoy the experience - fortunately we had him on the way down too so the whole experience was amazing- even though the 3 friends I was with completely made fun of me!
