The Tramway is subject to delays and periodic shutdowns due to unforeseen circumstances and is not responsible for ticket refunds or the inability to redeem a voucher
Tramway cars hold 80 people each and there are no seats. Passengers remain standing throughout the journey up the mountain
Distance is approximately 12,800 feet, with a vertical ascent of 5,873 feet - 15 minutes travel time one way
The tramway is known as a double reversible type of aerial tramway. Each car remains on one pair of track cables moving up and down without turning around. Each car serves as a counter balance to the other, the descending car is helping pull the ascending car up the mountain
Strollers are permitted on this tour
During holiday periods, you may experience long lines. We recommend you travel outside of these peak times to fully enjoy everything the tramway and mountain have to offer.
There is parking in 13 paved lots near Valley Station. There is free shuttle service from parking lots to Valley Station entrance available weekends and holiday periods

Circumstances brought our group to Palm Springs the less-than-desireable summer months with 100 degree temperatures. I was afraid we would spend all our time in the AC. But a trip on the Tramway provided the perfect outdoor adventure! Our cashier was so helpful to point out that our group of 10 qualified for a group discount. We boarded the tram in 95 degrees and stepped off into the cool 65 degree air. Fantastic! We chose the 1.5 mile "desert trail" hike. Don't be put off by the name. There was plenty of shade, moderate grade changes, and faboulous vistas. Then we enjoyed a snack-time feast at the cafe. (a bit pricy...maybe you want to plan ahead and bring a picnic. There may even be lockers to store it in at the tramway station,) But the cheese fries were delicious and my beer was refreshingly frosty. A great day!!

First time we went on this I was a bit scared when we were going over the bumps that come from the towers. But subsequent trips have been great. A beautiful trip up to the San Jacinto Mountains where you can hike and look at all the beautiful scenery. Plus, so much cooler than down in Palm Springs! A wonderful experience that shouldn't be missed when visiting PS!
