Having visited this area several times I had actually never been up the tram. I have cycled the road up to the tram and that is an attraction all on its own. A great workout not to be done in the heat of the day. The tram is a marvel of engineering and is an attraction all by itself. The actual tram car revolves 360 so you don't have to worry about not getting a view. Price point is pretty much what I expected. What you really have to remember is that the temperature at the top is VASTLY different from the bottom. The morning we went, hit the first tram up at 10am it was already 80 degrees in PS, at the top of the Tram it was 38. Bring a sweater or coat. In the winter months there could be snow. We of course didn't bring a sweater or bunny-hug (hoody), but found a couple fleecy tops at the gift shop. ouch, but well worth it. We did a 1.5 mile hike around all of the lookout points and it was amazing. The views are amazing, the forest air is unbeatable. A great way to work up an appitite. We did not eat at the tram, looked pretty basic food wise. This attraction is a must when in the area. We will go back next time and do a more extensive hike, perhaps taking advantage of special outings with the Rangers who are amazing and do a great job.

While we have been on a significant number of trams and funiculars throughout the world this one definitely stands out. The tram is just a short drive south of town, offers a great amount of parking, and leaves every 10 minutes or so. When we got there on a recent Monday morning around 10:30, the queue for buying tickets was quite long. Fortunately, we had purchased our tickets on line for a set time so all we had to do was check in at the turnstile. With pre-purchased tickets, we only needed to be in line 10 minutes before our tram departure so this is definitely the way to go. The boarding process is very organized and efficient and what makes the ride unique is that the tramcars rotate, so there is no front or back with bad views. If you have height issues then the 10-minute ride may be quite daunting. Plus, expect to experience a swing in the tramcar, which the attendant will call out, as you pass each of the five towers. Minus these two issues for a few travellers, the tram offers a great scenic trip to the San Jacinto mountaintop.

This was an enjoyable trip up the mountain in a rotating cable car with amazing views from every angle, it was amazing the difference in temperature from the bottom to the top and to see the lovely mountain trails which unfortunately we didn’t have time to walk along but all in all a lovely a afternoon and very reasonably priced
