Just walk outside the airport, 30$ taxi to Independence Visitor Center, jump on the bus (we took BIG-BUS), 2 hours tour with the guide. They stopped for 15 minutes to take some pictures with Rocky. Back to the airport for 30$. All in less than 3h. You could have time to hop-off and get back on the next bus, but this is a perfect intro to Philadelphia. You can have something to eat before going back, but we didn't want to risk being late back in the airport. Taxi travel time 12-15 min via 95. Tickets purchased online, highly recommended if you have min 4 hours to kill, better than staying at the airport.

I was in Philly for a quick weekend getaway and used the Hop On Hop Off bus to get a tour of the city highlights and get a good lay of the land. The tour guide speak in English but I noticed there were places for headphones for speakers of other languages. I ended up doing a few loops since I did the two day tour and you've got different styles of tour guides and you could see some of them definitely loved to share their knowledge of the city.

We decided to explore our own city and the Big Bus tour was first on the agenda. Our guide Z was fantastic. She was friendly, knowledgeable (for he life of me I don’t know how she can remember each one of those facts) and we learned lots about the city we thought we already knew. The tour bus was clean and the driver who I think was Marilyn, did a great job navigating through Friday’s rush hour traffic. The tour was engaging and we laughed a few times thanks to Z’s funny ad libs. I would have liked a few more buses running as 45 min wasn’t long enough to stop at an attraction but was also too long to wait in the cold if we had just missed a bus but I suppose we are on the off season so it’s understandable. Would def recommend to others!
