Took this tour twice. The second one we took (with Jay) was good although we could do without the disrespectful references to "Joanie on a pony" when referring to Joan of Arc. He shares some of the more obscure details about the city (buildings that once could not be taller than Penn's statue, busybodies, etc.). This tour is a good way to get to know the city so you can go back on your own and spend more time at the sights that truly interest you.

Hello AAHolt, Thank you for choosing Philadelphia Trolley Works & Big Bus Tours. I am pleased you enjoyed your tour experience with guide, Jay. The tour is an excellent introduction to the city, especially when you have such a knowledgeable guide as Jay. I can assure you no disrespect was intended toward the Joan of Arc statue or Joan of Arc, but your feedback is appreciated & your comments are valued. Please come back and ride Big Bus Philadelphia again when you visit the city.

I found this tour a little disappointing. First of all, there is not good location information on the website. It says that the tour leaves from the Independence Hall visitor center. This is not actually true the tour leaves from the corner of Market and 5th which is down the block and around the corner from the visitor center. I wasted quite a bit of touring time trying to locate the bus stop. Finally I had to go into the visitor center, wait in a long line, and then inquire about the location. If the website just said 5th and Market, I would have caught an earlier bus. When you finally do arrive at the corner, there is only a small podium that you have to find in order to check in.

We ended up getting on the trolley, as the next bus wasn't scheduled for another 30 minutes and it was too cold to wait. The windows are small, so it was hard to see the attractions. If I had known the trolley made things so hard to see, I would have waited in the cold anyway.

The tour guide was knowledgeable and did have some interesting information to share. However, his appearance was off-putting. His hair was stringy and his pants were literally fastened around his mid thigh, so I could see his underwear every time he stood up. I would expect the company to provide a uniform or at least require decent attire. He looked like he had just gotten back from a band gig or something. He didn't lend much credibility to the company.

In town for the flower show, but wanted to get a feel for the city and the big bus tour was just the ticket! every staff member we encountered from the driver who picked us up at our hotel, the ticket agent and guides were friendly, informative and went out of their way to make the experience great! A tour had just started (this time of year they happen at the top of the hour) so our driver caught us up with the bus so we wouldn’t have wait. We were offered a senior discount ticket which we didn’t see on website which was a bonus! Our guide Z and driver Bernard were wonderful! it was a pretty cold day but we were warm and cozy on the covered top deck and an additional bonus ... they allowed visitors to hop off for a few minutes to take pictures at the art museum ( rocky steps) then get back on instead of having to wait an hour for the next bus. The tour starts and ends near Independence park which we were able to do at the end of the tour. even though we were not able to hop on and off because of time limitations we felt we really got to see the highlights of this great city! Thanks to all at big bus tours....we will use you again when we return!
