Right at the pick up we were presented with a receipt inquiring us to pay 17,70 USD for Toll and 20% for Tip. On the voucher it says that toll and tip was not included, but did not indicate that we had to pay 20%. Also why was the toll different than on the way there? When we told him, that we are not able and willing to be forced to pay this 20% tip, he got upset and discussed for few minutes, but we started to drive. After about 40 minutes and bad traffic I think he realized, that we were upset and might not pay him any tip, he changed his attitude and became nicer. Not such a good experience. The pick up (time and car) was great though.

I chose this private transfer from JFK airport because we were a group of four and it worked out to be only a couple of pounds more per person to have a private transfer rather than a shuttle so it seemed worth it. On booking I provided the company with all the details such as flight number and arrival time however I was disappointed that I still had to ring the company when we arrived in New York to confirm our arrival, especially as calls from my mobile were expensive and we had already given them all the required details. The car arrived quickly and the driver was really helpful and friendly. I was also disappointed because as we approached the toll on the way to the hotel, the driver told me that the toll was not included in the price we had already paid so we had to pay another $7.50 toll fee. I don't think this was clearly stated when we booked it. Overall it was nice to have a private transfer but to be honest the next time we go I think we will just book the shuttle - slightly cheaper and no additional fees to pay.
