Private Tour: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Eco Tour

Overview
Explore the worlds most active volcano with one of our professional, award winning guides - get away from the big bus and van tours and get out into the field to visit areas that few visitors get to see while visiting Hawai'i island!

No gift shops, no restaurants, no long drives around the island in a van to visit areas you can explore on your own. No gimmicks and no frills - all of our time is spent exploring the amazing active volcanoes of Hawai'i island! We offer only active, education based explorations that focus on topics such as Geology, native flora and fauna, and the amazing Hawaiian culture that still thrives on the volcano today.

Our tours are family friendly, easy to book and leave our guests with a deepened understanding of the science and the culture of Kīlauea. See the best of the volcano with several moderate walks throughout the day. Our National Park tours allow guests the convenience of using their own vehicle as opposed to a large bus or van.

The volcano itself already worths your time, but the guide was absolutely a highlight to this trip. We had Erik as our guide, and he was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Not only was he able to introduce us to the local volcanos, he gave us straight lectures on geology and the local culture, which made the entire trip so much more informative and interactive. We were able to appreciate the view and the plants so much more with him being our guide! He took us to the best viewing spots without running into the crowds so we could better appreciate this amazing natural landscape. He even recommended local attractions and restaurants to us after the tour. Definitely recommend going to the volcano to visit WITH guides from their company :))

Justin was fantastic — he really made the most of our quick trip to Volcanoes National Park. His enthusiasm for the geological activity and the flora were contagious. We especially appreciated his flexibility since we mentioned at the last minute that we’d like to see the petroglyphs. He really made our day! We hope to return soon!

Ask for Michelle. Michelle is AMAZING. Typically on tours like this, the guide runs out of steam eventually, and understandably given the lengths. Michelle never ran out of interesting information to share, not once, over 6 hours. From Hawaiian history to geology and nature, she is truly an encyclopedia. Michelle will tailor the trip to your needs and abilities as well. We were up for anything and everything, so we ended up doing just under 10 miles of hiking, but we definitely saw all of the highlights of the park. Ask about her coffee farm. Michelle runs a local coffee farm in Ka’u, about 25 minutes south of the park. We ended up meeting up with her the following day to tour her farm. I’m not much of a coffee person, but even I was blown away by the time and attention put into her operation. Her fields are beautiful and her knowledge endless (and even from me, her coffee surprisingly good!). ASK HER ABOUT HER COFFEE! On the volcano tour, make sure you bring snacks, dress In layers (it goes from sunny and hot to cloudy and rainy and back again off and off throughout the day), and wear close toed shoes. Other than that, again, request Michelle and have yourself an awesome time exploring the world’s most active volcano in paradise

Aloha Austin S! We very much appreciate taking the time to review your private tour with Michelle, and we are happy to hear you enjoyed your day with her. Michelle is truly a pro in her field as a professional guide, and has vast knowledge of the local coffee culture thru her family owned farm here on the Big Island. And our guides are always happy to do as much (or as little) hiking and walking as our guests prefer. Mahalo for your recommendation of our private tours of the worlds most active volcano!
