San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

Such an amazing experience! The captain and crew were so nice and welcoming! Making sure that all our needs were met! We were so lucky and saw a mother and calf humpback whales, plenty of dolphins and sea lions! Highly recommend!

Ryan, our naturalist, was incredibly informative, educational, and fun. He provided a plethora of knowledge regarding the wildlife of the Pacific. Not only what we were fortunate enough to see but also their behaviors in the moment, evolution, history, human-animal interactions and safety, etc. Nelson was also on our boat walking around ensuring all the tourists were comfortable and safe throughout the entire excursion. We were on the water for 3 hours and not a minute less. Our boat followed a pod of 3 beautiful gray whales and then one solo whale. We were also accompanied by pods of Pacific white-bellied dolphins, long beak common dolphins, short beak common dolphins, and a few sea lions...all of which we learned about through Ryan's commentary. Everyone on the boat had sufficient time to be able to see all the wildlife. I would recommend this opportunity to all who visit beautiful San Diego.

I went with my wife and sister-in-law (no good option for that). We went for the 9am trip, which was a good idea because the line for the 12pm when we got back was quite long. Our trip was a goid size, maybe about 15-20ppl. It was a lovely trip, Vanessa was a great tour guide/naturalist. We saw sea lions, many birds, dolphins, and a few gray whales! Don't think you're going to be getting right next to the whales, so bringing or renting a pair of binos is a good idea (we rented). Would definitely suggest. The view of San Diego on the way back was a wonderful sight as well!
