San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

I have been on several whale watching excursions in So Cal and have NEVER seen a Blue/Gray/Humpback whale. I have seen jellies, plenty of seals and dolphins, some flying fish but this time we caught sight of a Minke whale. We were about 1 hour into our journey and I barely got to see it, but it came right up to the bow and then under the boat to Starboard to Port. I am always hopeful that I will see more, but alas, I just had to settle for a sunny, relaxing boat ride in the Pacific! One thing that was new to me is that we stopped a few times to pick up trash in the ocean - I thought it was a nice example to set for children. The kids were trying to spot trash to pick up while we also searched for whales too, so they were always "busy". There are restrooms, snacks, beverages and seasickness prevention measures available on the vessel.

I love the size of the boat. I was able to look over bow to see the surfing dopfins. The young woman guiding the tour was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and always looking and talking about the marine life plus taking pictures. I would highly recommend.

My husband and I did the morning trip and saw approximately 10 grey whales and loads of dolphins. It was magical. The boat was nice with room to sit or stand. The staff really knew their stuff. So thankful for such a great team to be on the water with. We’ve decided we will absolutely do a trip with this company again!
