We barely saw a whale which looking for one extended the trip by 30 minutes. There were not many dolphins either. I just felt the tour went on too long with not much to see.

Went to SD Whale Watch due to great reviews, was not disappointed. The boat rode well, very dry. Day was nice with smooth wave action. Dolphins and sea lions out and saw 2 fin back whales. Well worth going I would go again if I am in the area

I have been whale watching for 20+ years and have traveled all over. I had just returned from Baja Mexico and had the unique opportunity to pat Gray whales and wanted to go on a normal whale watch out of San Diego. I went on a competitors boat on Monday cause it was a holiday and this one was booked up. I was so disappointed with them as you could tell it was all about making money and very little about the whales. This group was awesome though. The boat is the Privateer which comes from my whale watching stomping grounds of Gloucester MA. It was one of the reasons I wanted to go with them. The boat is much more user friendly, with less people to try to see around. They are the only whale watch in San Diego that hires a naturalist so they have someone knowledgeable on the boat to talk during the trip and also answer questions. You can bring food and drink and be comfortable. Though we didn't see any migrating whales on this trip, we did see common dolphins and they gave coupons anyway so that you could come back for half price. As I was taking pictures of the boat when we got back, I got to meet and chat with one of the owners and share some advice and to hear the excitement he has to build this business up to being as great as the ones in Gloucester. I think with his enthusiasm and desire to not only have a profitable business but one that cares about the marine life that he will do well. I wish them all well and hope to take up his offer someday soon to bring a bunch of friends out during Blue Whale migration where he has an additional 8 hour trip for die hards like me. Keep up the good work guys!
