San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

My boyfriend and I went on a morning whale watching tour on Tuesday 6th November and were lucky enough to see a plethora of beautiful animals! It was a gorgeous day and within about 20 mins the knowledgeable crew had spotted a humpback whale! It was my first time whale watching and I know we were pretty lucky to see such a whale in the shoulder season but this was all down to the FANTASTIC crew and captain - it was honestly the most informative, detailed and enjoyable tour I’ve ever done (and I’ve done countless other boat trips)! It was such a joy to see how genuinely passionate this crew is about sharing information about marine animals and respecting their boundaries too. As well as a humpback whale we saw a big pod of common dolphins, a cute little seal, a really rare tropic bird and 3 flying fish! It was an awesome morning which I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to see some of San Diego’s amazing wildlife first hand. It was a highlight of our 2 week California tour so thank you so much to San Diego Whale Watch!!

I only give 4 stars because we were unable to see any whales but this was to no fault of this fantastic crew. We knew we were really not in the whale season but apparently there is always a chance to get lucky. From start to finish this 3hr trip was amazing. Dani was our guide and was very knowledgable about all the wildlife and Delaney took exceptional pictures. We saw seals and dolphins (lots of dolphins). It was a very comfortable boat ride and all the crew were friendly and informative. There were bathrooms on the boat and there was a bar w snacks offered. We saw a huge pod of dolphins and we were all able to get great views and pictures. It was amazing to see so many dolphins surrounding the boat and jumping all around. It was definitely worth it. Dress comfy and bring a jacket as it can get a bit chilly out there. We were prepared so it worked out well. I would definitely do this as even though we missed the whales, the dolphins made up for it. FYI anything bought on the boat is cash only. This was a fantastic trip. I would highly recommend

We went on the Whale Watch to see whales and dolphins. We saw a lot of dolphins but no whales. Vanessa was a good guide and was enthusiastic about her job. Because we didn’t get to see whales, they gave us a 50% off coupon to come back another day.
