San Diego Whale Watching Tour

Overview
Our trips depart from Mission Bay, which requires only a short 10 minute journey access to the open ocean where whales and dolphins can be seen! The search for whales and other animals begins as soon as you depart the dock and our marine biologists are on the microphone explaining exactly what to expect and what you are seeing from the get go!
Typically our trips are 2.5-3 hours in length, but time can vary based on seasons and locations of sightings.

Did the morning whale watch on Thursday. We saw four gray whales, tons of dolphins, and sea lions sunning themselves on the docks. You can purchase motion sickness medicine on-board for $3 per dose but we purchased a box of medicine in the shop where check-in for $6 that had 8 pills in it, enough for 4 adults. Don’t sit at the tables next to the check-in area – they are for customers dining at the grill. It is a bit chilly on the water so take layers of clothes. You can bring on water & soda and snacks. Have cash ready for a tip at the end. Even our teenage son said they enjoyed the whale watch too.

The narrator of the tour was one of the volunteers of the Birch Aquarium aboard the ship. These folks are experts on the gray whales' migration patterns and lives. We saw the whales and learned a great deal as well. It is a worthwhile couple of hours on the San Diego Bay.

We went on a buy one get one day...We took a morning trip, and was very choppy. But after we got out in sea it calmed down & we got to see several Blue Whale birth!! My only complaint was that the woman was so interested in her photos of the whales that she blocked the views for us (the paid customers) Almost pushed her overboard ;) ***TIP*** Take your Dramamine
