We went to the Safari which is at a separate location to the Zoo. there is a nice tour around the exterior of the park where you will get to see a lot of wildlife, included in the price. We paid an extra 80USD to go on a jeep into the park itself where we got close up to a large variety pf animals and were able to feed rhino and giraffes. Although it wasn't cheap, the tour guide was very knowledgeable and the experience was extraordinary and one that I highly recommend.

The park is very large and requires a lot of walking. Parking was ok, had to walk uphill to entrance. Pre-purchased our tickets (groupon) so no wait in line. Plenty of shops and eating places (expensive, $44 for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks). The exhibits were very good of the smaller animals. Tram ride was very good to see the large animals (approx 25 min.) A lot up uphill/downhill walking though. Probably a two day experience if you want to see everything. Worth the trip if in San Diego/Escondido area.

The best safari experiences were extremely expensive and not affordable for our family of four. Well worth the trip but if time is sort would recommend doing the San Diego Zoo first
