I've been living in San Francisco for nearly 8 years now and I'm amazed at all the things I didn't know about The Castro! Kathy's tour is both entertaining and educational. She walks you through the history of this great neighborhood in San Francisco and shares stories and anecdotes along the way. She points out things you'd never see if you're just visiting the local bars and restaurants - the Harvey Milk Academy where students learn how to be better citizens and the AIDs quilt in Catch were highlights for me. This is a great way to start your day and get your bearings in the neighborhood if you're a visitor. If you're a resident this is a great way to learn a little more about the neighborhood flavor in The Castro. After a little history and culture there are plenty of places to stop of for brunch and a mimosa! Kathy is truly a professional - she makes you feel instantly comfortable and seems able to make friends with anyone. It was a pleasure to spend the morning learning from her.

As a New York area resident who has never been to the West Coast, staying in the San Francisico area was a complete thrill. Knowing there is so much history where else to start...a tour of Castro. On this tour I was joined by a few gentlemen from the Boston area, and Sweden as well as 2 locals. Kathy's knowledge of the history of the community was amazing. Even the locals saw things that they walked past daily and never really saw before. To think of how one man had such a impact on this community.... I would recommend this tour to anyone and if its not on your list of things to do, ADD IT.
