It was our first time to San Francisco and we wanted to balance the conventional sightseeing with something more off-beat. We got it with this tour! While most people would bill it a gay tour, I’m more inclined to say it’s a tour of one of the city’s most famous neighborhoods, which just so happens to be home to a lot of gay men. Kathy gave a great historical perspective about the entire city, dating back to the Spanish conquistadores, and ended with the modern day struggles, and triumphs, of the gay community. She knows all there is to know and was very open to questions. Kathy even helped us find our way to the Castro (we stayed in Union Square) and she helped us find our way to our next destination. This was the first thing we did in the city, and it really set the pace for an amazing 5 days! Throughout the rest of our trip we kept seeing things that we learned on the tour! It’s worth the time and money!

Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the sights and hearing the history of the Castro and of the individuals who contributed to the queer quest for equality and equity. Kathy, our very knowledgeable and personable tour guide, provided a comprehensive and lively narrative which included the geological, architectural, social, political and economical aspects of the Castro. Take the tour to have a comprehensive Castro experience.

Well not exactly, but this walking tour of the castro was outstanding. Kathy's passion for her tour was evident from the moment we met and as the walk progressed she was able to give us an insight into this colourful community. This educational tour is suitable for all with an interest in history, gay rights and the evolving city-scape in the late 20th century. Kathy made her guests feel at ease and she was readily willing to share her knowledge and to answer all queations directed to her. I wouls very readily recommend Kathy's walking tour to all travelers.
