The experience was overall good. Kayaking is alot harder than I had expected, next time I think I might try just a single person kayak. My only complaint was that as we went to get our kayak and life jackets the guy who was supposed to help us wasn't being very helpful. It almost seemed like he didn't want to be there. My friend had asked is her life jacket was on properly and he just shrugged. It made us more nervous than we already were but we overall had a good time once on the water. I really appreciated that there were some guys on the beach who helped us take off. Idk if he worked there but a guy named Matt was honestly the best. I lost my glasses as a wave knocked me off the kayak and he miraculously found them and swam out to us! Overall good experience, and don't be afraid to practice in the canal under the bridge. It helped us get a better hang of the kayak.

As we had done a few years ago, we rented double kayaks from Kailua Beach Adventures and paddled out with a child and a friend to the North Mokolua island and had a refreshing swim there before paddling back (with a visit from a friendly turtle along the way). It was satisfyingly challenging, but we did it in a few hours. KBA is a good operator, efficient and helpful, with quality equipment and sound advice. We had good support from Jaye (who got us set up and was at the beach to help us land) and will plan to use them again the next time we get to Kailua.

Well served at the center. Lockers, changing room and supplies available. Quite a long walk towing your own kayak about 15 min. Then once you ate at the launch site you have to kayak across a canal to get to the beach. Then pull your kayak across the beach to the water. Not easy. And then difficult to get in kayak with the surf. Daughter and us 60 year olds flipped over at least once. It would of been nice to have someone at other end of cansl to help on beach. Difficult kayak to far island choose your destination wisely. Equipment in great shape.

Aloha and we are dismayed to hear about your experience. The walk to the beach is a necessary part of the kayak rental process as deliveries are not allowed in Kailua. The good news is that wheeling the kayak can be made easy by keeping the wheels in the center of the kayak. We make an effort to tell everyone, I'm so sorry this information wasn’t properly explained. We truly care about a complete and positive customer experience and would love to make it up to you!
