What To Expect

Route 66

After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.

Williams Depot

Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.

Grand Canyon South Rim

You’ll experience approximately three hours within the National Park marveling at the beauty that is the Grand Canyon. You will be driven to viewpoints as well as have free time to walk to various viewpoints and points of interest. Visit the historic El Tovar Lodge, Hopi House, Mather Point or Yavapai Point, the Geology Museum and more incredible viewpoints! While at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park, you will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or enjoy lunch (own expense) and relax with the best seat in the house.

It would be helpful to get the Grand Canyon map/brochure at the beginning of the trip so we could review it before getting to the canyon and have time to ask questions. Also it would be nice if the tour guide gave more info during the ride to the canyon about the scenery.

A totally memorable experience and a must see! Amazing day, perfect weather, great group of co-travelers, knowledgeable driver. The trip would be improved by spending longer at the Grand Canyon. There were some people who did not eat as they felt there was not enough time to sit and have a meal. The stop at Williams should be just that- a bathroom stop, take pictures of Route 66 and move on. An hour there was wasted time. Also…pick up/drop off process could be improved. Some companies send individual cars to pick up, that all meet in a central location and the same on the return. The bus returns to the central location and passengers are ferried to individual locations We were picked up at a hotel that we had to drive to. We were the only passengers picked up. I asked to be picked up at our hotel (it was on the next street) but my request was denied. Overall a wonderful day.

Wow! What an amazing day. Don't let the length of the tour put you off because it is well worth it, and the tour seemed to be over all too quickly. Sam was our guide for the day and he was just incredible! He was so knowledgeable and passionate, going out of his way to ensure we all had a great time. We were given ample personal time in the Grand Canyon and the views were nothing short of spectacular, words can not do this incredible wonder justice. Visiting Williams was a real treat, a quaint town on Route 66. Thanks for a magnificent day that will stay with me forever!!!!
