Our much anticipated Alaska trip included the Girdwood dog sledding on day three of our trip. We checked in and waited till five minutes before the flight time to be told the flight is cancelled due to weather. The four girls working there tried to sell everyone other packages, we had some flexibility on the last day of our trip so we rescheduled it. Today we called ahead of time and comforted that all three tours in the morning went off fine. We checked in and got outfitted with the gears, being read heli rules and even being paired with other tourists. On the minute, the word came that the flight was cancelled, due to weather. Like last time, a few girls in the office trying to up-sell you on other sightseeing packages or reschedule this one, little empathy offered. Yes we got our refund, but it is the opportunity cost that came with a lost day of other alternative arrangements we could have made. Why wait till last minute to cancel such that we drove all the way out here? Incredibly unreliable. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who doesn't have an extra day to do little about.

Thank you for your review. I can understand your frustration with last minute changes related to weather. As a helicopter operator in Alaska, where weather can change suddenly, we must fly responsibly and only when conditions are safe. So yes, weather cancellations do occur, but it's incredibly uncommon for the same guest to be faced with two weather cancellations, as you did, and you do have our sincere empathy. The glacier dogsledding tour takes place on Punchbowl Glacier, surrounded by mountains, so when it gets socked in with low visibility we can't fly. For our flightseeing tours if there's low visibility up the valley, we can still typically fly to other areas that are clear, so any attempt our team made to suggest another tour was purely to provide you with an alternative and make you happy, not to "up-sell" you, (dogsledding tour is our most expensive tour, so anything else would have been at a lower price). Our team was as surprised as you were to have to cancel the second time, and we were glad we could at least provide a full refund. We are so sorry it didn't work out to experience the tour, and hope the rest of your travels were wonderful. - Christina

The dog sledding tour was amazing. Learned a lot about the Iditarod race and will be following it next year. Amazing stories from participants.

We traveled with a 10 month old and a 78 year old. Guides went out of their way to ensure everyone was safe and had a great time!
