Sunset Sail from Traverse City with Food, Wine & Cocktails

Overview

Wind down and relax as our captain and first mate teach you about our elegant schooner and share stories about the history of the lands, people and waters of the Grand Traverse Bay area. Enjoy complimentary locally sourced gourmet food, wine, and cocktails while watching the sunset paint the sky. This is a 2.5-hour sail.

Check-in at our kiosk 30 min before departure. The 2nd Mate will do a brief welcome about 10 min before departure and then will guide all passengers to board Wind Dancer. We have a variety of beverage options including wine, cocktails, local spirits, soda and water. Food is served around 1 hour into the sail. We respectfully request that guests not bring additional alcoholic beverages. Free parking is available at the check-in kiosk, which is located at The Delamar Resort, 615 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI. Please bring rain gear, a beach towel, and appropriate non-skid footwear for boating. Tours will be rescheduled if necessary due to inclement weather.

The experience wasn't bad besides I felt the one sided semi racist jokes About bananas mite as well said who invited the black people on a boat we dont have any bananas for you Making us feel like they really didnt want us here but because you paid we have to accommodate you So I felt that there was a shadow over our service With a hint of racism So please advertise that you guys aren't too welcome to people of color but we will accept you

I am sorry that you felt like this. We are an open and affirming company and welcome all. As owners with diverse ethnic backgrounds personally and with a diverse team of professionals on board, this troubles us. I will personally speak with the team to find out more about what happened. Just as a reference, with people of color in my immediate family, I am not sure I agree with bananas connoting racism, but I am going to make sure that we do not have any issues. Again, I apologize for how you felt. I talked to the crew and did some research. I am a new captain, so I am still learning about sailing. Apparently, bananas are considered bad luck on boats. I will include a link in this response so that you can explore and learn on your own. The reasons are varied, but I can assure you that our company does not tolerate intolerance or bigotry of any kind. I would welcome a conversation if that would help. Thank you. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect, but I am so glad we did this. Went with a group of locals. Food was stellar, great conversation with others on the sail, and of course, it was beautiful on the water. Another thing to note was the professionalism of the entire experience--this isn't a thrown together deal. All was executed with precision and excellence. We loved it so much we did the bike tour the following day, which was equally impressive and enjoyable.

Beautiful evening. We had a gorgeous sail on a beautiful boat. The staff was very capable, friendly and attentive. The food was fabulous. It was fun to meet the other passengers. Love to go out again.
