The Wing Ride: The Hidden History of Chicken Wings Food Tour

Overview
Earn your wings on this fresh Buffalo food tour with samples of Buffalo's tastiest chicken wings. On this incredible journey, we’ll dive deep into the history of Buffalo’s most famous and misunderstood dish and attempt to answer the question, “Who was the true inventor of the first Buffalo Wing?”.

The tour begins with a visit with Lina Brown Young, daughter Buffalo’s original King Of Wings, who shares personal photos, stories, and her dad’s long-lost mumbo wing recipe, which had been unavailable for 23 years.

We’ll continue with a stop at the Anchor Bar, where we’ll learn the wild story of how their wings were born by accident and sample their classic Buffalo Wing. The tour concludes with a visit to Tiny Thai, an up-and-coming food truck, where we’ll sample a legendary recipe that connects the past, present, and future of chicken wings.

Experience the tour that’s been featured by the Food Network, NY Times, and Vice Media, and learn how an American food icon came to be.

Marc was the most thoughtful and research-oriented tour guide we've ever encountered. We came for the wings, but stayed for the cultural relevance and long-latent details of Buffalo's decline and resurgence. This tour is urgently needed for those who love Buffalo and wish to gain deeper understanding into the intersection of food and civil rights. The obvious highlight is sampling the elusive and exclusive mumbo wing (previously unavailable since 1994) and talking with the late John Young's daughter, Lina. From sharing a recipe from 750 AD to discussing the soul food connection between Black Americans and Chinese Americans, Marc makes this much more than a food tour. We won't give anymore away. Join for yourself and see how it was never The Anchor Bar.

There was 10 of us on this trip from 13 years old to 53 years old. We all absolutely LOVED it!! You got to hear some great history about Buffalo along with a great bike ride! The best part was meeting the daughter of John Young’s (one of the first to create Buffalo wings). You get to eat them only on this tour! They were so yummy!! It was such a unique experience. Tour guides Marc and Hannah were super knowledgeable and very friendly!! We highly recommend this tour if you like biking, wings, and learning the history of parts of Buffalo

Marc knew his stuff. He told us all about the local history and how it is impacting the industry of today. He was so patient with me and my husband as we are up in age and not in the best of shape, but we wanted to do an outdoor activity. We had great weather and a fun bike ride. I would recommend this tour.
