The Wing Ride: The Hidden History of Chicken Wings Food Tour

Overview
Earn your wings on this fresh Buffalo food tour with samples of Buffalo's tastiest chicken wings. On this incredible journey, we’ll dive deep into the history of Buffalo’s most famous and misunderstood dish and attempt to answer the question, “Who was the true inventor of the first Buffalo Wing?”.

The tour begins with a visit with Lina Brown Young, daughter Buffalo’s original King Of Wings, who shares personal photos, stories, and her dad’s long-lost mumbo wing recipe, which had been unavailable for 23 years.

We’ll continue with a stop at the Anchor Bar, where we’ll learn the wild story of how their wings were born by accident and sample their classic Buffalo Wing. The tour concludes with a visit to Tiny Thai, an up-and-coming food truck, where we’ll sample a legendary recipe that connects the past, present, and future of chicken wings.

Experience the tour that’s been featured by the Food Network, NY Times, and Vice Media, and learn how an American food icon came to be.

Love history? Love Wings? This ride is for you. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time learning about the REAL history of the chicken wing and how it became popularized. We explored some of Buffalo’s most historic neighborhoods and learned so new things even for being Buffalonians ourselves! Marc was a fantastic guide. He is the owner of this business and his passion for this tour shows. My favorite part of the tour was meeting the daughter of John Young whose captivating story of her father as a Buffalo Chicken wing original (and her delicious Mumbo wings) was only just the start of a delicious 10 mile bike ride. I highly recommend this tour and will be returning to try one of the other Buffalo Bike tours soon!

I highly recommend this tour for locals, as well as visitors. Not only did we have the opportunity to eat some terrific wings, this tour also is a great way to see some of Buffalo’s less touristy neighborhoods. Marc, our tour guide, is knowledgeable, easy going, professional and accommodating. He did everything to make this tour fun and educational. Marc has done extensive research on the history of this great city and shared many interesting facts and information. The wings were incredible and we certainly had more than enough to eat. So come hungry.

This was a wonderful tour with guide Marc! I’m from Buffalo and had never experienced Mumbo wings from John Young’s daughter, never had been to the Lenox Grille had their beef on weck and sampled 2 kinds is wings were delicious then returned to the kiosk at canal side for a sampling of Thai styled wings from the Tiny Thai which were wonderful. Though that was the main event the knowledge and research that Marc has done to share with us was amazing, riding through Bennet Park an Olmstead park which I never knew existed sharing the details of Aretha Franklin, Harold Arlen and Rick James connection to Buffalo. Highly recommend this tour even for us native Buffalonians!
