I didn’t go because I had covid hoping for refund was told it was completely over crowded and not worth it

The actual view was incredible. However the staff ruined the entire experience. No where are you told you have to go through security/ metal detectors. Not online when you purchase tickets. Not the 30 minutes you’re in line before getting there. Not at all. Had we known this we could’ve left our bags with gifts we had just purchased with someone in our group who wasn’t going up. Instead. We get all the way to the security to find out and they want to throw away a pocket knife gift. While waiting for the member of our group that had this, to go all the way back down so she could hide it somewhere as opposed to throw it away and losing her money, we are yelled at, by an employee to move from where we are waiting. Not asked nicely, yelled at. As we are waiting for people to walk past us so that we can move as she demanded, she Yells even more about not listening and Usstill standing there. We would’ve literally had to walk all over people to move at the exact moment that she demanded we do so. The managers response was “they’re not trained in hospitality”. Being respectful isn’t a “trained” trait. For the cost, being treated like dirt doesn’t make the view worth it.

The line looked intimating and long but it was a well oiled machine and moved pretty quickly. It was about 15-20 min from timed start to the top of the tower. Along the way you have an opportunity to do a photo op like the iconic photo of the construction workers sitting on a girder when it was built. It’s a nice keepsake. There is indoor viewing and there are a few different levels once outside. Make sure you check out all of them. We were there on Sat Dec 3rd and our time was 5:55. We hit the line at about 5:50. We had the New York skyline at night and it was beautiful. We were lucky to have our time right after it rained. The employees were courteous and efficient.
