Tree Canopy Climbing on Lopez Island

Overview
Come experience the only old-growth tree climbing activity in the State of Washington and create some unforgettable memories. This is your chance to do something not even .1% of the population has done, but now you can. In small-groups climb together on 1-4 trees between 100 and 200 feet high, depending on your athletic level. Some of the trees are even rare old-growth trees. See the unique perspective above the canopy and feel what it's like to be eye level with an eagle as you climb/swing around like a monkey through the open air and catch branches, while safely harnessed by rope. Climb your way up some of the tallest trees in the world to amazing views of the upper canopy, mountains, and ocean. Connect to nature like you have never done before, beyond the trail.

During this activity you will explore the special ecology of old-growth trees and its importance in our environment and so much more.

What a fun and unique experience! Leo, our guide and the owner, was kind and friendly. We booked a private climb and were running late due to the ferry. I emailed them and they replied that it was no problem. Leo had all the equipment ready (I recommend borrowing some gloves from them) and gave great instructions, making us feel very safe during the climb. The views of the San Juan islands were beautiful, and we got to climb 2 trees in the park in addition to the shorter climb of the practice tree in the parking lot. We climbed up to 230'. Leo had interesting information to tell us about the trees and climbing. One of us climbed more slowly and Leo made sure we both felt comfortable and were attended to. I recommend long hiking-type pants and a long-sleeved top. If you have any concerns about booking this, do not hesitate! We were able to have our questions answered easily beforehand via email, and the entire climbing experience was handled very safely and professionally. (FYI, we are 52 and 64 years old).

My daughter did this to celebrate her 18th birthday. Working with them was a great experience. They had great communication. As things got closer, they had some scheduling challenges so contacted me to see if we had any flexibility. When I explained we had chosen that specific day because it was her 18th birthday, they made sure to make it happen. The day of we had more rain than expected, so they weren't sure they were going to be able to climb. They let me know what was going on early and were headed out to check the ropes to see if they were dry enough. Matt was a super chill guide and worked really well with my daughter. Great and patient teacher. You could tell he was very focused on safety as well as making this enjoyable.

What an amazing experience! We had so much fun. I am terrified of heights but felt 100% about the equipment was completely secure. Our guide was amazing and taught us about the trees and area. There was a couple times I got scared of the heights. The guide was great he encouraged us to go up but made sure we knew it was our adventure to take as far as we wanted. He was also great at making us feel comfortable, he talked with us about video games, the forest, hiking, and hobbies. At one point I wanted to sit to get used to the height, he had no problem with that, and then flipped upside down and started stretching, which made me feel much better. If you are as scared of heights as I am it will be a mental challenge. however it is well worth it! We had so much fun, and it was beautiful!
