Tree Canopy Climbing on Lopez Island

Overview
Come experience the only old-growth tree climbing activity in the State of Washington and create some unforgettable memories. This is your chance to do something not even .1% of the population has done, but now you can. In small-groups climb together on 1-4 trees between 100 and 200 feet high, depending on your athletic level. Some of the trees are even rare old-growth trees. See the unique perspective above the canopy and feel what it's like to be eye level with an eagle as you climb/swing around like a monkey through the open air and catch branches, while safely harnessed by rope. Climb your way up some of the tallest trees in the world to amazing views of the upper canopy, mountains, and ocean. Connect to nature like you have never done before, beyond the trail.

During this activity you will explore the special ecology of old-growth trees and its importance in our environment and so much more.

Our instructor, Matt, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable, great with the kids and taught “safety first”. Our Grandson had a awesome time, evening though he didn’t go all the way to the top and he did find out he was a little afraid of heights. Overall, great experience.

We had an incredible time climbing to the tops of trees with our guide Matt. After an informative practice session we went for a brief walk to find our first tree hearing stories and history about Deception Pass state park. The views at the top of the tree were stunning (thanks to a clear day) along with bald eagles flying above us. After lunch we headed to our second tree to the same end. Special thanks to our photographer and guide for a great trip! 10/10 would reccomend.

This was a chance in a lifetime experience. I am obsessed with trees and while visiting the PNW I saw this opportunity to climb up in to the canopy of some of the oldest and largest mac-daddy trees of them all!! Leo (owner and guide) was extremely knowledgeable and kept safety of the climbers AND the trees in check. Highly recommend this unique experience.
