Tree Canopy Climbing on Lopez Island

Overview
Come experience the only old-growth tree climbing activity in the State of Washington and create some unforgettable memories. This is your chance to do something not even .1% of the population has done, but now you can. In small-groups climb together on 1-4 trees between 100 and 200 feet high, depending on your athletic level. Some of the trees are even rare old-growth trees. See the unique perspective above the canopy and feel what it's like to be eye level with an eagle as you climb/swing around like a monkey through the open air and catch branches, while safely harnessed by rope. Climb your way up some of the tallest trees in the world to amazing views of the upper canopy, mountains, and ocean. Connect to nature like you have never done before, beyond the trail.

During this activity you will explore the special ecology of old-growth trees and its importance in our environment and so much more.

After a rock climbing day with adventure terra (which was also great), we went for the tree climbing tour. At first the guide will gear you up and make sure, that everything is in the right place. Then you start with a "classroom Tree" before you head for the 175 feet tree very close to the beach. From the top you will have a marvelous view over deception pass. It is great fun and a very special acitivity. Nevertheless I would recommend a private tour. In our group people were very slow and that means, that we had to wait and we couldn`t go to a second tree. Also it took us two hours until everyone was set up and climbed the little height at the classroom tree. And this two hours mean waiting for at least 1 hour 30 minutes. If it wouldn`t have been for this wait, the tour would get 10 stars!

This was an amazing experience. My husband and I had the most incredible time. We started with a short practice climb and then the two main trees about 200 feet up each. The first tree had sweeping views of deception pass and the bridge. The second tree took you well into the canopy with a 360 view of more trees. We had a eagle perch not far from us. This is a physical activity. Expect a workout. I suggest long pants and socks that cover your ankles to protect your legs from rope burns and bumping into branches. Our guide Matt was great and super knowledgeable about the environment around us. Worth every penny. I highly recommend doing this. I will definitely do it again.

I wanted to go climbing for about a year before I was able to justify the price. Man oh man was it worth the money. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. It was such a unique and fun adventure. I am actually planning my next climb already. Our guide Matt was awesome! He created such a relaxed learning environment and made us all feel comfortable and confident. You will not regret spending the money on this activity!
