We had a great time. Went to Hurricane, Calumet and Katierich Farms. The tour of Calumet was great with Shaun W., our guide, having a wealth of knowledge of each horse and their history at the farm. We went to the cemetery and a stallion barn. We got to see and touch lots of yearlings and babies at the other two farms and his stories on the bus rides between the farms was great. Thanks again Shaun!

This was a great opportunity to see the farms where horses are bred and get to pet horses and colts. For a horse lover, it was just great. But the best part was listening to Shawn explain tell the history of the farms and the horses they produced, with so much knowledge and humor. He made the experience delightful. I would highly recommend this activity!

You can take this tour any of three times a day seven days a week - from the Kentucky Horse Park main gate. Shaun Washington (ask for him) is the best. The man is informed, passionate, personable and cares about horses, people, the Kentucky Wildcats and your experience. Without prompting he will offer you a great tour. But if you engage him in friendly ongoing conversation the experience will be incomparable. We visited Calumet, Shadwell and Katierich Farms. Each has a story to tell. Upon completion of the tour we planned to go on to Louisville to catch some races at Churchill Downs. When we told him that, he recommended we stop and take the one hour tour at Buffalo Trace Distillery (Frankfort) and ask for his friend Freddie. We did and it just added to a wonderful day, Best value you can get. We will never look at a horse race the same again. That is a good thing!
