This is a fun and beautiful tour. Kayaking the Wailua river is scenic and easy. The hike to the secret falls is not difficult and the reward at the end is well worth the effort. This was one of our favorite activities on Kuaui.

My husband and I took the morning kayak tour and hike to the Secret Falls. We were lucky that not only was it a beautiful day and we were the first tourists that morning to hike to the Falls, but our guide, Evan, was awesome! He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area, very professional and down-to-earth. The tour was a nice small group of six and pretty strenuous (the hike was very muddy and slippery as we really had to pay attention to where we were walking) but well worth it - out of nowhere came these beautiful falls! While kayaking back, our GoPro fell in the river and Evan dove into retrieve it, but unfortunately couldn't find it because the water was pretty murky. But he said that on his next tour he'll bring his mask and get it for us. Sure enough, the next day I received a picture text of our GoPro - Evan found it! We couldn't believe it - he was so incredibly nice and thoughtful as he didn't have to look for it at all! We would totally recommend Duke's Kayak Adventures and especially make sure to get Evan as your guide! He was the best guide we've had - even if he didn't find the camera! The Falls and our fantastic experience with Duke's and Evan was definitely a highlight of our trip to Kauai!

We, a family of 3, went on the afternoon tour, and there were 10 others, plus one guide for a total of 13 in our group. The facilities are pretty limited, we had an orientation in a sort of large carport, with no restroom, although we were offered the use of one in the back of the small clothing store next door. When we returned after our tour, soaked by a rainstorm as it turned out, there was nowhere to change except beside our car. Our guide, Kelly, was nice, informative, patient and enthusiastic. The equipment was satisfactory. Be aware that if it has been raining, the hiking path to the waterfall, while not steep, is very, very slippery. There is a river crossing which could also be a challenge depending on the water level. A few of the people in our group had a lot of difficulty, one fell and hurt her ankle badly. So we didn't enjoy ourselves on the hike much, partly because we ended up waiting for the less able bodied in the group to make their way along the trail. Not that this was the fault of the organization. The "secret" falls are nice, not very secret as there were 3 other kayak groups there when we were. We love Kauai, enjoy nature and don't mind a physical challenge and rain (we are from the Pacific Northwest after all and used to rain), we wouldn't likely do this tour again.
