New museum with super spacious galleries exhibiting the best of American art. It even has some exhibition space outside. It's also in an interesting neighbourhood with plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from.

After completing the High Line I thought I'd squeeze in a visit to the Whitney. The building itself is amazing. It contains a wonderful collection of American art. In addition to the art, the view of Manhattan from the roof is more than worth the price (22) of admission.

Although our time at the Whitney was soured at first by a poor dining experience in the Studio Cafe, the museum itself completely erased it. I am not a big fan of modern art but was very intrigued by what I saw here. I think what made the experience great was the intelligent and informative commentary at the beginning of each room, as well as on the works themselves. I was able to understand a piece rather than be mystified why the museum purchased it. The building itself was amazing. It completely showcased the art.
