What To Expect

Whitney Plantation

As we make our way to the Plantation site guests will see such sites as the marsh of Lake Pontchartrain, and an elevated expressway going through the Louisiana swamp. Also see what the Corp of Engineers are doing to prevent the next Hurricane Katrina catastrophe. You will also see such plantations as Evergreen where they film Queen Sugar the new mini series on the OWN and 12 years a slave.

This is an excellent experience. Brian was an engaging tour guide (he is definitely his biggest fan of his jokes 🤣). Brian is very knowledgeable and tried to be as accommodating as possible so folks could take pictures of places while still in the van. The Whitney Plantation is a "must see" for everyone. The self guided tour makes it easier for people to tour at their own pace. The experience is from the slave perspective including the children. It is a unique experience. Highly recommended.

It was just very educational and humbling. Really liked going at our own pace with the recording machines. Recommend anyone in the New Orlean s area to go see the Whitney Plantation tour. Our driver/guide, Brian, was very interesting on our way to the plantation informing us of various things and pointing out items that New Orleans has gone through and how they are handling it. He added humor on our ride as well. Would totally recommend.

Bus driver was terrific. The Whitney plantation was very informative and moving. I would have preferred a guide to lead us through rather than the pre recorded tour but it was ok. The bus ride was terrific but I found the experience at the location to be very cold and impersonal.
