La journée commence dans la magnifique réserve naturelle d'État d'Armstrong Redwoods par une promenade parmi les arbres qui s'élèvent à 300 pieds dans le ciel. C'est une chance unique de découvrir des arbres qui existent depuis 1500 ans. Nous choisissons délibérément de NE PAS aller dans le plus connu Muir Woods, qui est envahi par la foule et empêche nos clients de profiter pleinement de la majesté des séquoias. Au lieu de cela, nous allons à Armstrong Woods, qui a des arbres plus vieux et plus grands, et beaucoup moins de monde.

Nous passons ensuite à la cave Kendall-Jackson et au jardin culinaire où le mouvement culinaire de la ferme à la table est en plein essor alors que nous parcourons les jardins qui sont la source de légumes pour les restaurants les plus prestigieux de Californie.

Une fois que nous aurons vu l'incroyable offre du jardin culinaire, les chefs primés de Kendall Jackson prépareront un déjeuner de quatre plats accompagné de certaines des meilleures offres de la cave. Le menu change au fil des saisons en fonction des produits les plus frais du jardin.

We love this tour. Phil was super accommodating and flexible with our pick up and drop off needs along the route! The timing of the tour was great with plenty of time to explore Muir Woods. The tour of Kendall jackson was delightful, walking through the gardens, tasting the grapes off the vine and then having by an amazing meal!!! Everything was so good and we loved getting to know our small group of tour buddies.

This was one of the best ways to spend a day of our lives that I could imagine. The Muir Woods were gorgeous and our driver/guide, Phil, made sure to get us there before the big tour busses arrived. So we were actually able to enjoy some of the quiet beauty before all of the talkative groups arrived with their voices echoing through the valley. The gourmet lunch with wine at Kendall-Jackson vineyards was a visual and tasting delight. The wines are not the ones you can find in the stores, but their special wines you can only get at the winery. The grounds are gorgeous with all the flowers and vegetables that they use on the property and the meals. A great bonus, that we have never seen at any other winery, is a garden with samples of the many different types of wine grapes popular around the world and you can pick and taste them from the vine. Phil was informative, fun, and everyone on the van made friends quickly. We had our own table at the winery and it was very difficult to leave. Phil’s historical tidbits along the way were just right, and he let us pick our own play lists. What a day!

Bottom Line: If you want to a quality and relaxing experience, this is the tour for you. First, we walked the Redwoods in Muir Woods. Park entry fee included in tour price. Almost any tour company can provide this truly wonderful experience among the Redwoods. What they may not be able to provide is our tour guide, Don Stace, who, in my book, was the perfect guide for this tour: Professional, easy going, a desire to make this a memorable event, and a wealth of knowledge and experience about these environs. After the Redwoods, we set off to the Kendall Jackson estate for wine pairings with a 4 course culinary lunch. On the way, Don chatted about wine making, demonstrating a superb knowledge of the complexities involved. The estate was absolutely beautiful and available for us to stroll. The food was some of the best we have ever had and the wine pairings for each course was perfect. Now, aside from a top notch tour guide, here’s the difference between this and other wine tasting tours. On other tours, you may get worn out hopping about to several different wineries. On this tour you get the QUALITY of a leisurely experience at a top notch winery with an excellent meal. It was perfect. So, if you want quality over quantity, this is the tour for you. To enhance this already wonderful tour, ask for Don Stace as your tour guide. You will not be disappointed.
