I reserved a car because my son had a small window between when his flight arrived and when a ferry was leaving to get him to Fire Island, where his brother was proposing to his girl friend. The entire family was to be there. The car was reserved for 1:40. When he arrived and called, they said they were looking for a car for him, even though we had a reservation. An hour later, knowing he now would likely miss the ferry, he jumped into a Lyft. Because it was last minute and during a high volume time, he had to pay much more for the ride. Had he known he was NOT going to be picked up on time, he would have taken the chance on the train system which would have cost $20 instead of the $135 he ended up paying. As it turns out, the car did not arrive to pick him up until 3:40, two hours later! I am glad he didn't wait. Do NOT schedule a pick up with Carmel Car Service. They offered an $8 discount on a future ride for our trouble. REALLY????
