I've been on Culinary Backstreets food tours before and this one was just as fantastic as the others!! What a great company that provides fascinating itineraries, fabulous food, tons of information about history and culture in addition to food, and our guide, Ulysses was absolutely amazing! Ulysses is extremely knowledgeable about the food, local vendors, history of the neighborhoods, and the ever-changing food and neighborhood dynamics in play. We were with a friend who has lived in L.A. for some years and she learned a ton of new things about her city, neighborhoods and food scene!

Absolutely one of the best tours I've done. Our guide took us through the Chinese, Latino, and Japanese communities and ended at Central Market. At each place, we experienced the most authentic and historical cuisine, observed the vendor's interaction with people within and outside the community, and talked through the history of these ethnic groups in LA. The food itself were amazing. Some of them I would have never even thought to try or appreciate as much if I'm just walking by on my own. Thanks to our guide we now have a much better appreciation of both the history and culture of these communities in LA. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves food and culture.

Best activity in LA to learn food, culture, history of area. Ulysses was great guide with deep appreciation and knowledge of the neighborhoods visited. What a treat to find hidden gems for food in neighborhoods we had not explored before.
