This is the only place in Alaska where you can mush your own team of dogs in the summer!

This is not a just a tour kennel; it is the training grounds and homestead of 4-time Iditarod champion, Dallas Seavey. All the dogs are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions! Our dogs are active and training year-round. As a guest musher here, you become part of Dallas Seavey Racing's year-round training program.

The group size for this experience is usually 6 or less people, with a guide assigned to each group, creating a very personal experience.

All of our dogs are extremely friendly, and love attention. Cuddle puppies, romp with young dogs, or walk with champions.

We loved our sled dog mushing experience with AK Sled Dog Tours. We chose this company because the owner is none other than the renowned 5 time champion of the Iditarod and because they offered the best opportunity to drive your own sled. We were very happy with our choice! Many wonderful and knowledgeable human team members were involved with driving us to the kennels (an incredible site with so many dogs and Dallas Seavey's home), helping us get outfitted into good rain boots to protect us from the puddles, well-explained instructions, hooking up our dog teams, guiding us on the tour, teaching us about the dogs, taking us into the puppy section and finally sharing lots of information about the Iditarod race and showing us Dallas Seavey's racing equipment and trophies. The mutual affection between the dogs and staff was evident, as was their care for the health and safety of the dogs (and us haha). The dogs were incredibly excited when the sleds were being hooked up and they all seemed to want to be selected to pull. We would highly recommend this company and this tour!

This is not just a tourist attraction. This is the REAL DEAL! 5x winner of the most exhausting race on earth. This kennel in Talkeetna, AK is a must see if you’re visiting Alaska. We LOVED IT; the self-driven sled ride, the equipment review, the dogs history etc. All of the 3 hours was so captivating.
