Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview
Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War.  We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history.  From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

We had an intimate tour with Kristin last night and had a fantastic time! She has a Masters in American History and is exceptionally knowledgeable about all facets of Salem's rich history. We really enjoyed the balance of history with some fun paranormal tales as well. We appreciated this tour group's respect for city residents, other tour groups and its guests.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a good walking tour in Salem that incorporated some paranormal stories as well as history and specifically the witch trials. I am so glad that we chose Black Cat tours! The day we went, we ended up being the only people on the tour, so we got a very personal tour. We were able to ask questions and freely interact with our amazing tour guide, Daniel. He didn't have to wear a microphone like some other groups we passed did - it seems like it would distract from the spookiness of the tour. We learned a lot about Salem's history that we didn't know from other tours. He also gave us little tips for places to go and things to do. We visited some places that inspired the works of authors such as HP Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe. Daniel is a great storyteller and a funny guy as well. Some of his creepy stories gave me chills. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about everything. I would absolutely recommend this tour, and plan to go again I'm the future.

Recently I took a tour with the tour guide Daniel. I have to say, that this was the best tour I have experienced in Salem. This company has clearly done a significant amount of research, and strives to achieve excellence. They are a class act, and manage to not only make the tour incredibly informational, but accessible to all ages and humorous to boot! Tour guide Dan met us near the famed Peabody Essex museum, dressed to the nines and uber prepared to show us this wonderful city. As a resident, I fully appreciate what they have to offer tourists, and I recommend this company to all who read this review.
