Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview
Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War.  We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history.  From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

I took Black Cat's ghost tour several months ago, so I couldn't wait to take the history tour on this trip. I had worried about my teenage stepdaughter being bored, but as soon as she got home she was retelling some of the stories to the family! Incredibly informative, and very entertaining. I love that it went far beyond the Witch Trials, and into all aspects of Salem's rich and fascinating history. Can't wait to go again!

Extremely worthwhile! This was our first visit to Salem and I highly recommend starting your visit with the Black Cat tour, as Daniel gives you enough information and direction for you to then go exploring on your own. Daniel is a wealth of knowledge and tells Salem's history in an entertaining and colorful way. He does a great job of separating truth from fiction. The entire tour was informative and captivating. We had 2 17 year olds and an 11 year old with us, and they all got a lot from the tour.

I've been meaning to review the Salem Back Cat Tour for some time now. My boyfriend and I went during Halloween 2014. We researched several of the tours before choosing this one and are incredibly happy we did! Daniel, our tour guide, had a wonderful energy and charisma throughout the entire tour. There was never a dull moment! He provided a well balance between the history of Salem, mixed with spooky ghost tales and paranormal stories. He comes to life with storytelling, and you can tell he loves what he does. Among the other tour groups, this one was much smaller, which allowed for a more personal experience. When we return, we will definitely be coming back for this tour.
