Overview

Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War. We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history. From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

What To Expect

Salem Black Cat Tours

Your guide will meet you at the Axelrod Walkway park at 28 Charter Street, next to the Peabody Essex Museum, located across the street from the Witchcraft Trials Memorial and Old Burying Point Cemetery Welcome Center.

We spent the day in Salem and the best part was this tour. Daniel was super versed in Salems history. This tour is cheaper than some, but not shabby. Hits all major places in the city. We had a blast and learned lots of new things too.

We took the evening tour with Daniel and had a great time. He is incredibly knowledgeable about Salem, not only regarding the witch trials but history, commerce, trade, and individuals through to present day. The tour was a good mix of history and the more ghostly or spiritual. I would definitely recommend the tour. It lasts about an hour and a half, but the walking is not difficult.

Due to time restraints we had to take a day time historical walking tour as the ghost tours were not offered during the day we visited. Daniel was an extremely knowledgeable, likable and professional guide. He knows his history for sure. As newbies to the area we assumed that the Witch Trials were all that Salem had to offer, boy were we ever wrong. While he thoroughly covered the facts and myths of the trials, clearing up some of the misconceptions that I had, he also thrilled us with information on pirates and Salem’s patriots. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the town and would take another Black Cat Tour again if I return to the area.
