Overview

Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War. We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history. From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

What To Expect

Salem Black Cat Tours

Your guide will meet you at the Axelrod Walkway park at 28 Charter Street, next to the Peabody Essex Museum, located across the street from the Witchcraft Trials Memorial and Old Burying Point Cemetery Welcome Center.

My friends and I visited Salem for the weekend and decided to do a night time tour. We choose the black cat tours and we're very happy that we did. Daniel was our tour guide and he was excellent. Daniel was very knowledgeable of Salem's history and the history behind the witch trials in general. Daniel made the tour interesting and kept us captivated by adding a spooky aspect to the history. We highly recommend doing this tour! Made our experience in Salem!

Our tour guide Daniel was amazing, he was extremely knowledgeable and an excellent story teller. He kept us captivated for the entire time so much so that we couldn't believe it had been 90 minutes! I loved that he told us stories about so much more than just witches. After touring witch museums all day, it was refreshing to hear about stories of Blackbeard, murders, hauntings and a lot of general history. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone going to Salem!

We were pleasantly surprised at how excellent the tour was. Our guide John was knowledgeable and entertaining, and the tour focused much more on the history of Salem (more than just the witchcraft trials!) than we expected. He made a point to thank my parents for their military service, which was a very nice touch. Other tour groups we passed seemed huge, and the guides needed microphones. John's experience as an actor was clear and appreciated. It was just a great experience all around. I would very highly recommend this tour!
